It connects to your faucet’s cold line in about 15 minutes, and Hydroviv chooses the cartridge for your address. IAPMO R&T certifies every cartridge for chlorine and nearly all for lead.
The catch: PFAS certification depends on which cartridge you get, and you can’t pick it yourself.

Our verdict
Hydroviv’s under-sink filter is a single housing that goes on the cold-water line under your existing faucet. There’s no drilling, no extra faucet and no tank, and Hydroviv says it takes about 15 minutes. Its main idea is customization: Hydroviv checks water data for your service address and sends a cartridge blended for it.
That customization shows up in its certification. IAPMO R&T lists 19 cartridge versions. All are certified to NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine, and 18 to NSF/ANSI 53 for lead. Nine are also certified for PFOA and PFOS, and three (the “Drinking Water System” cartridges ending 19o, 49o and 79o) for Total PFAS, cysts and 15 NSF/ANSI 401 compounds including microplastics. Others carry no PFAS claim at all. Hydroviv’s product page doesn’t say which you’ll receive.
Hydroviv also mentions arsenic and chromium-6, but neither is on any of its IAPMO R&T listings, and it doesn’t reduce fluoride. Its certified capacity is 360 to 600 gallons depending on the cartridge, below the 720 gallons Hydroviv quotes. Replacement cartridges cost $133 every 6 months, or 25% less on subscription.
You want a filter that installs in minutes on your existing faucet, with certified chlorine and lead reduction, and you’ll ask Hydroviv for a PFAS-certified cartridge.
You need guaranteed PFAS certification or fluoride reduction. The Aquasana Claryum Max Flow is certified for PFOA/PFOS on every unit.
How it scored
Contaminant reduction carries the most weight in the overall score. How we score filters
What it removes
Every row is from Hydroviv’s IAPMO R&T listings, which certify claims by cartridge rather than give percentages.
| Contaminant | Hydroviv | Certified to |
|---|---|---|
| Chlorine, taste and odor | All 19 cartridges | NSF/ANSI 42 |
| Lead | 18 of 19 cartridges | NSF/ANSI 53 |
| PFOA and PFOS | 9 cartridges | NSF/ANSI 53 |
| Total PFAS, cysts | 3 cartridges (19o, 49o, 79o) | NSF/ANSI 53 |
| Microplastics and 14 other compounds | 3 cartridges (19o, 49o, 79o) | NSF/ANSI 401 |
| VOCs | Some cartridges | NSF/ANSI 53 |
| Chloramine | 1 cartridge (49o) | NSF/ANSI 42 |
| Arsenic, chromium-6 | Hydroviv’s claim | Not certified |
| Fluoride | – | No claim |
IAPMO R&T files W-16780 (NSF/ANSI 42), W-16781 (NSF/ANSI 53), W-16782 (NSF/ANSI/CAN 372) and W-29902 (NSF/ANSI 401), issued to Hydroviv LLC, were active on 7 October 2026. The 53 file lists capacities of 360, 450, 500 or 600 gallons depending on the cartridge, and flows of 0.72 to 1 gpm. We found no Hydroviv listing at NSF International.
What it costs to run
Hydroviv says to change the cartridge every 6 months. A replacement costs $133, or 25% less on subscription. At the certified 360 to 600 gallons, that’s about $0.22 to $0.37 a gallon, higher than Hydroviv’s own figure, which is based on 720 gallons. Hydroviv gives a 5-year warranty on the housing and hardware and a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Common questions
Is Hydroviv certified?
Yes, by IAPMO R&T rather than NSF International. Every cartridge is certified to NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine, and 18 of 19 to NSF/ANSI 53 for lead. PFAS, cyst and NSF/ANSI 401 claims apply only to some cartridges.
Does Hydroviv remove PFAS?
Some cartridges are certified for PFOA and PFOS, and three for Total PFAS. Others have no PFAS claim. Ask Hydroviv to confirm your cartridge is one certified for PFAS. See our PFAS guide.
Does it remove arsenic or fluoride?
Neither is certified. Hydroviv mentions arsenic, but no IAPMO R&T listing includes it, and Hydroviv says it doesn’t remove fluoride. For both, look at reverse osmosis such as the APEC RO-90.
Can I buy Hydroviv on Amazon?
No. Hydroviv sells the filter and cartridges only on its own website.
How long does a cartridge last?
Hydroviv says 6 months and 720 gallons; IAPMO R&T certifies its cartridges for 360 to 600 gallons.
The bottom line
Hydroviv installs on your existing faucet in about 15 minutes, and every cartridge is certified for chlorine and nearly every one for lead. If PFAS is your concern, confirm with Hydroviv that you’ll get a PFAS-certified cartridge, or choose the Aquasana Claryum Max Flow, which is certified for PFOA/PFOS on every unit. Compare them all in our under-sink filter guide.
