We started DrinkingWaterFilter.com for a simple reason. The water that comes out of your tap is one of the few things you consume every single day without ever really seeing what is in it. When we went looking for clear, honest guidance on filtration, we found a web full of thin reviews, recycled marketing copy, and recommendations that seemed to favor whatever paid the most. We wanted something better, so we built it.
Our goal is to be the most trustworthy resource for anyone trying to understand their water and choose the right filter for it. Whether you are worried about lead in old pipes, PFAS in your municipal supply, or simply the taste of chlorine, we want you to leave this site knowing exactly what you are dealing with and what will actually fix it.
How We Evaluate Filters
We combine independent research with hands-on assessment. Before we recommend any product, we review its NSF and ANSI certifications, study third-party lab data and contaminant-reduction test results, and compare manufacturer claims against what the testing actually supports. We pay close attention to which contaminants a filter is genuinely certified to reduce, because a filter that removes chlorine taste is not the same as one that removes lead or PFAS, even though they are often marketed the same way.
When a product earns a recommendation from us, it is because the evidence supports it, not because of a commission.
What You Can Expect From Us
Plain language over jargon. We explain the science clearly enough that you do not need a chemistry degree to follow it, but accurately enough that you can trust what you read.
Honesty about tradeoffs. Every filter has limits. A pitcher is convenient but slow. Reverse osmosis is thorough but wastes water and strips minerals. We tell you the downsides, not just the selling points.
Recommendations you can act on. We do the comparison work so you can make a confident decision in minutes instead of hours.
A Note on How We Stay Independent
This site is reader-supported. When you buy through some of our links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Those commissions keep the site running and let us keep our guidance free, but they never determine our recommendations. You can read more on our affiliate disclosure page.
